Usually moisture or too small a screen. Above 20 percent moisture, run the largest screen that still hits your target length. For wet material, switch to an anvil screen with a solid cutting edge and no holes to plug. See the Screen Selection Guide.
Hammers wear, and worn hammers stop sizing cleanly. Rotate them at about 100 hours per side, 400 hours total. Check that both screen halves are the right sizes: target on Side A, one to two sizes larger on Side B.
